Learn how to increase credit score fast without spending thousand of dollars paying to attorney or credit repair clinics. The answer, as you probably guessed, is you can now fix credit score yourself. A higher credit score can save you thousands of dollars. Both requires a different approach a.k.a “The Insider Techniques”.

Understanding The Insider Techniques
“Credit repair” is simply the name given to the process of improving your credit score, and removing incorrect items from your credit report.

Insider Techniques involve strategies known as :-

The insider techniques tips are provided by Consumer Publishing Group, which publishes the Credit Secrets Bible (in print since 1994 and updated each year).

The Fact

United States citizens are rich with “buying power” but poor in the knowledge and financial intelligence that tell us how to use it. This might be why over half a million people (597,965) filed for Bankruptcy in 2006.

Most people don’t realize that they are “knowledge-poor” in the area of finances and credit until it’s too late. By the time most of us are aware that we lack financial intelligence, the damage has already been done. This is why understanding credit and credit-repair is so important. For many people, credit repair should be the first step that they take towards a better financial future.

Credit Secrets Bible’s insider techniques have helped hundreds to raise their credit score with simple action plan and tips.

DO YOU KNOW THAT…..?

The credit report banks and businesses get to see has about TWICE the financial information compared to the credit report you receive from the credit bureaus? That’s right. In most cases, the credit bureaus send a much more detailed report to businesses than they send to you. A bit deceiving, isn’t it?

This is why banks and businesses (except mortgage lenders) will NEVER give you a copy of “your” credit report. The credit system is full of “little secrets” like this. Most people find them frustrating.

Credit Secrets Bible will show you how to take each one of these secrets and use it to your advantage.

Tips #1 – LOWER DEBT TO CREDIT RATIO

“I have excellent credit, I pay all my bills off in full every month!” This is a false belief for one to buy into and understanding your debt to credit ratio holds the key to getting your “credit mindset” right.

For example, if you have $10,000 in total unsecured revolving credit accounts and you’re currently in debt $2500, then your debt to credit ratio is 25%. Since the main way lenders make money is by charging interest, one of the elements of the credit scoring model is driven by your ability to maintain balances and pay over time. This shows your true (long term) credit worthiness which is most profitable to lenders since they make money primarily via interest and not annual fees.

If your debt to credit ratio is high, you can bring it down without selling everything you own. The next tips will explain it.

Tips #2 -Sub Prime Merchandise Cards

Sub Prime Merchandise Cards can be used to increase high credit limit and decrease their debt to credit ratio. A lot of people misunderstand the benefit of this card due to marketers misrepresenting the cards and the growing number of companies promoting them. When you learn how they work one quickly understands why they have been the subject of much misrepresentation.

Credit Secret Bible have explain in details and here how it works: if you get a $5,000 card and you finance $500, on your credit report it will look like any other credit card and will do three extremely important things for you.

i. It will increase your current “High Credit Limit” by $5,000 almost overnight.

ii. By carrying a small outstanding balance it will positively impact your credit report by building and showing potential lenders your credit worthiness.

iii. With a good payment history you are virtually guaranteed to receive “legitimate” pre-approved credit offers in the future due to other lenders renting your name from the credit bureaus.

This technique is hard to beat for both cost and effectiveness. The whole key is knowing exactly which cards report to the credit bureau and offer the best rates.

Tips #3 – Piggybacking

Piggybacking is not used by nearly as many consumers as it should be. Although it is easy, effective, and extremely fast. Unfortunately, it’s mostly used among parents and siblings while those who can really benefit stay in the dark. You can easily benefit by being an “Authorized User” or “Secondary Account Holder”for a credit card holder.

For an example, if your fiancee holds a credit card with a $10,000 limit which has been paid as agreed for the last 10 years, then that complete history will be posted to you if you are the authorized users’ credit report. As you can see, this strategy is usually only used by parents and their reaping credit wise! In fact, in recent years, due to its’ effectiveness, this technique has led individuals with excellent credit scores to “rent out” authorized user accounts on one or even multiple credit cards in return for a fee!

Learn more tips on how to increase credit score fast with all the secret of insider techniques such as advanced credit profiling, deposit loan programs and many more.

Many Americans are weary of credit repair because a few bad apples have ruined what is actually a valuable financial service. As a result many are attempting to strike out on their own and fix their credit woes. So for those consumers interested in do-it-yourself credit repair, there is a general process you should follow. Below is a wide-ranging checklist.

Step 1: Get Your Credit Reports

You can’t know where to begin with the credit repair process if you don’t have your credit reports. Accounts on the reports from the three major bureaus are the factors that calculate your credit score. Each of the bureaus – Equifax, Transunion and Experian – will provide consumers with a free credit report every 12 months. Be sure to pull your reports from all three as they may have different items listed.

Step 2: Analyze Each Account

When you do receive your reports, carefully sift through each account to verify that it is indeed yours and that it is 100% correct. Even the slightest mistake can drop your credit score, or keep it from increasing during the repair process. Gather your bills and financial records to crosscheck with what the reports are saying.

The reports aren’t always that easy to read for newcomers as they’re full of codes and abbreviations in an attempt to keep them as short as possible. If you’re in need of help, keep an eye out for credit repair forums, where people who have been in similar situations are definitely willing to help.

Step 3: Dispute Inaccurate Accounts

If you find that there are mistakes on the reports, you need to dispute those accounts directly with the credit bureaus. Again, searching the Internet for sample letters will probably be adequate. The bureaus have 30 days by law to investigate the accounts and either validate them, update them, or remove them entirely.

This cannot be stressed enough: only dispute accounts that are incorrect. Disputing accounts that are indeed accurate is going to notify the collectors that you are trying to get out of paying them. This can make your situation much worse than it was when you started.

Step 4: Determine Total Debt

For accounts that you know are yours or that have been disputed and verified, be prepared to pay them off. If you’re really looking to improve your credit score lenders are going to want to see that you’ve taken care of all of your past debts.

Step 5: Budget and Save

Sometimes this is the hardest step of all, but it is so very necessary. Depending on the amount of debt you are in, you need to start putting away some money to pay that off. You will not be able to open new lines of credit while your reports indicate that you still have outstanding debts.

Step 6: Negotiate Debt

The type and age of your debts will dictate whether collection agencies will be willing to settle your debt for less than is owed. Generally after 6 months of non-payment, collectors are willing to take a reduced payment since they believe that if you haven’t paid in that time that they are less likely to get any sort of payment from you.

This is not to say that you should stop paying your bills in the hopes that you’ll be able to pay them off for a fraction of what you owed 6 months down the line. If you are truly trying to repair your credit, this is the worst thing you could possibly do. All of the late payments and charge-offs you will incur in the meantime will absolutely destroy your credit score.

Step 7: Open New, Positive Accounts

The consumers with strong credit profiles tend to have 3 to 5 lines of revolving credit. Depending on how many cards you currently have, do-it-yourself credit repair is going also going to involve opening up new lines of credit that will add to your credit score. This is because lenders want to see that you are currently able to use credit responsibly. Look into secured credit cards with you current or local bank.

Step 8: Pay Your Bills

It’s amazing that this should even have to be a step for someone repairing their own credit, but you would be surprised how many Americans will let their payments go late. If you’re involved in the credit repair process and you’re not paying your bills on time, you might as well just stop repairing your credit. Paying your bills on time, over the span of a few years is really the only way to truly boost your credit score.

While not an end-all checklist, this will give you the basics of what you should be doing for your DIY credit repair needs. You’re not expected to be an expert from the outset, so if you’re confused, ask questions. There are forums dedicated to credit repair and many credit repair companies give free consultations. Seek help when needed, even the simplest mistakes can delay the process or even worsen your situation.

Even though it’s more important than ever to be familiar with your credit score and what affects that crucial number, experts say a lot of Americans don’t know nearly as much as they should about what they do that can impact their score. WalletPop got on the phone with John Ulzheimer, president of consumer education at Credit.com to find out more. We also caught up with Barry Paperno, consumer operations manager for FICO, via email to ask him to spill some credit score secrets.

For instance, many people think that if they pay their bills on time, their credit score must be good. Right? Wrong, say our experts. Even if you always pay on time, if your cards are close to being maxed out, your score isn’t going to be as high as it could be, since borrowing up to the hilt looks like a risk factor to the credit bureaus. Surprised? Read on to find out five more credit secrets that can help you get the credit score you deserve.

1. Pay off revolving debt first. There are two different kinds of debt most of us carry: installment debts, which are generally secured by collateral (such as a car loan), and revolving debt, such as credit card balances. Since credit card balances are unsecured — the company can’t repossess the spoils of your last shopping spree if you don’t pay up — they’re viewed as much riskier in the FICO equation. As a result, paying off revolving debt boosts your credit score more than paying off a comparable amount of installment debt. “Paying off installment debt has such a small impact on your score,” says Ulzheimer. “Last year, I paid off a $284,000 mortgage and my score went up four points.” In other words, put that overtime check, bonus or tax refund toward credit card bills if you want the most bang for your high-score buck.

2. Payments to collection agencies don’t boost your score. By the time a debt goes to a third-party collection firm, the original lender (your credit card company, for instance) has already written off the loan as a loss and noted that delinquency on your report. While there are a host of good reasons — such as not getting sued and not being pestered with phone calls at all hours — to pay the bill once a third party collector has it, those payments won’t count toward your FICO score and won’t erase the notation of delinquency.

Likewise, if you get dinged with an insufficient funds fee at your bank and “retaliate” by closing the account or not putting any more money into it, you can get slapped with a collection action by your bank that will negatively impact your score. “In addition to bank account debt, such collection accounts can also arise from utility bills, parking tickets, and even library fines – and can often impact your score as much as unpaid credit card or loan debt,” Paperno warns. Bottom line: Pay those bills before they’re sent to a collection agency if you want to preserve your score.

3. Accentuate the positive. While you obviously want to make sure that black marks like missed payments don’t stay on your report any longer than necessary, it’s perfectly okay and even desirable to have old accounts that were in good standing still listed. For instance, say you paid off a car loan and never made a late payment on it. While you could lobby the bureaus to take that information off your report, it’s more beneficial to leave it on, says Ulzheimer. “This is a great example of when less is more. Don’t ask them to take it off if it’s in good standing.”

4. Opening and closing accounts can lower your score. “FICO’s research has found that opening a new account is predictive of increased risk, and opening any type of credit account or loan action can lower one’s score,” explains Paperno. The good news, he adds, is that your score will rise back to its original level within a few months if you keep the balance low and make your payments on time.

Closing cards can ding you because it skews your credit utilization ratio — that is, how much of your available credit you’ve used — when that line of credit suddenly vanishes. For this reason, experts say to use all your cards at least occasionally. An unused card does you no good if the issuer cancels it due to inactivity.

5. Borrowing more to pay down your debt is dicey. Despite the fact that Americans are often pitched offers of “consolidation” loans by their bank or mortgage lender, taking on more debt to eliminate your credit card bills is a risky proposition. “You’re borrowing from Peter to pay Paul,” says Ulzheimer. Since most consolidation loans are home equity loans backed by your house, failure to get a handle on your spending and pay off your debts as intended could have catastrophic consequences, he points out. “If you miss these payments, the down side is much more significant.” There’s also the fact, as we pointed out above, that opening new accounts can at least temporarily lower your score.

However, taking out an installment loan to pay off your credit card bills could prove beneficial — with one significant caveat. As Paperno points out, installment debt doesn’t drag down your score the way a bunch of maxed out credit cards can, so if — and this is the big “if” — you have the discipline to pay off your cards with that new loan money and stop using the cards until the installment loan is paid off, you could raise your score. But as Paperno points out, it takes a super-sized helping of discipline in order to make this tactic successful.

Credit scores are the determining factor on how good the deal is for most of the major purchases we make in life. Managing your credit wisely can save thousands of dollars over one’s lifetime and even contribute to a comfortable retirement. Think about this, improving your credit scores by 50 points can save around $33,000 over the life of the average mortgage. If you also consider the likelihood that you will also pay higher rates on car loans, and credit were talking about a huge sum of money. What if you were able to put all of that money into a retirement account, wow!

Before we get started, I would like to touch on the “companies” that advertise that they can magically clean your credit and have your scores up in a matter of days. In my opinion any company that makes such a claim is less than legitimate at best. The simple fact is that it’s ultimately the credit bureaus that will update your scores via the information they receive. By law, credit bureaus cannot treat you any differently than the people you hire to clean up your credit. This means that Know-how and hard work are the only differences between you and credit repair companies. So if you are willing to learn a little and roll up your sleeves you can save some money.

Don’t get me wrong, there are a lot of legitimate credit repair companies that perform great a services for their clients. Depending on how bad your credit is repairing your credit can be a lot of work. If you are unable to spend the time or you lack the “stomach” to deal with collection agents then I suggest that you look into hiring a legitimate credit repair company. The only downside is that it can be very expensive and the money you spend paying them to repair your credit can be used paying down debt.

3 Tips for Fast Credit Report Repair

1) Opt out of all credit bureau solicitations – Have you ever wondered how you get “pre-approved” credit card and mortgage offers? Credit bureaus actually sell your information to companies to solicit you. These leads are furnished to the solicitors by credit type and a credit score range. The credit bureaus then “ding” your credit score 3 – 10 points for the inquiries! The good news is that you can “opt out” from this practice and it will raise your credit score 3 – 10 points within a week. You can find the website here: www.optoutprescreen.com.

2) Validate all debts as real debts on your bureau – This action requires that you have a credit bureau in hand. If you are serious about cleaning your credit it is crucial that you have one it will be your blue-print. You will need to pony up about $40 bucks to get a credit report with all 3 bureaus and scores. Many companies offer “free” credit reports if you join their credit monitoring service that ironically cost around $40 bucks.

With Credit report in hand, you need to validate ALL debts with collection agencies that are reporting on your credit bureau. Look for debts that are older than 7 years old, (from the charge-off date) the credit bureaus have remove these by law. Dispute these debts with the credit bureaus NOT the collection agencies. Next, look for duplicate collections, many collection agencies will package and sell your debt to other companies and never remove their original report. Send a letter to the credit bureaus with an explanation asking that they remove the debt.

3) Dispute ALL debts with the credit bureaus – Dispute all late payments, collections and negative remarks that appear on all 3 credit bureaus, not the collection agencies. In the dispute letter simply state that you do not believe the debt is yours and ask them to have the reporting agency to prove that you owe the debt. In the event it is a late payment simply say that you weren’t late. You can find a good letter by following the link above.

Note: When I say dispute all items I mean all negative items whether they are a legitimate debt or not. By law the collection agencies have to prove that you owe the debt within a reasonable amount of time or remove the remark on your bureau. Many collection agencies are too busy or unable to respond to the credit bureau’s request. When this happens the credit bureaus have to remove the negative remarks regardless of their legitimacy.

10 Ground Rules for Dealing with Collection Agencies

1- To use an analogy, credit collection agents are the Devil incarnate and they are on commission.

2- Arguing with the Devil is fruitless; they hold the gold and will ultimately win the argument.

3- Speaking with the “supervisor” usually will not work; he got his position by being the meanest Devil.

4- The Devil will lie and cheat, it is his nature. Do not EVER give debit card numbers, checks numbers, credit card numbers, or bank accounts over the phone to a collection agency.

5- Make any and every payment you send to them with a money order or certified funds.

6- Send all correspondence via certified mail return receipt, leave a paper trail and make a file.

7- Do not accept a deal or negotiated payoff without having it in writing.

8- When negotiating a lower payoff take their first offer, they will almost always call back to sweeten their offer.

9- When negotiating a lower payoff always approach the collection agent from the position “this is all I can afford to pay” not “this is all I am going to pay you”. Refer to rule #2

10- Always have a copy of your credit report when repairing your credit!

Obviously, there is a lot more to know than we have mentioned in these three tips. However these three tips will almost always help you with fast credit report repair. NOTE: Executing these three tips you do not want to the collection agencies at this time. If collection agencies update the information on your bureau it can actually lower your credit scores. Do these three steps first before contacting the collection agencies and then you can dance with the devil later.

You should at first go for credit counseling help when you’re not able to manage and pay off your debts on your own. The counseling agency may offer you a debt management program when simple budgeting tips are not enough for you to repay your multiple debts.

Debt management program – What it is

A debt management program can be defined as a structured repayment program with the help of which you can get rid of your debts. It is also referred to as a debt management plan or simply DMP.

DMP – When to take help

You should take help of a debt management program when you start experiencing any of these situations:

    * You are using one credit card to pay off another one.
* It is becoming difficult for you to make the monthly payments on time.
* You’re facing difficulty to make even the minimum monthly payments.
* Creditors and collection agencies are calling you for payments.

Debt management program – How it works

When you enroll in a debt management program, at first, the credit counselor assesses your financial situation and decides upon a monthly payment that you need to pay to the counseling agency every month. The counselor also negotiates with your creditors to reduce the interest rates on your loans/debts. You don’t have to communicate with your creditors any more. It is also the job of the counselor to get the single monthly payment approved by your creditors. As you make the monthly payment to the company, it distributes the amount amongst your creditors on your behalf. Thus, you’re able to pay off your dues just by making a single payment every month.

DMP – Its pros and cons

The pros and cons of paying off debts with the help of a DMP are given below.

Pros:

    * Interest rate get reduced – As already mentioned, when you enroll in a DMP, the counselor negotiates with your creditors to reduce the interest rates on your loans. So, it becomes easier for you to pay off your dues fast.

    * Your stress get reduced – You stress can get reduced when you enroll in a DMP. This is because you don’t have to communicate with your creditors; the counseling agency does it for you.

    * Single monthly payment – With the help of a debt management program, you can repay your multiple bills/debts just by making a single payment every month.

    * Get rid of harassing creditor/collection calls – Your creditors and collection agencies stop calling you for payments as soon they accept the proposal and receive an initial monthly payment.

Cons:

    * Creditors may not accept – There is no guarantee that your creditors would accept the proposal made by the counseling agency.

    * Need to pay a professional fee – You have to pay a fee when you take professional help in order to repay your debts. The counseling agency usually deducts the fee (from your monthly payments) and distributes the remaining amount amongst your creditors.

    * Cannot repay your secured debts – You cannot pay off your secured debts such as, a mortgage or a car loan, with the help of a debt management program.

It is advisable that you check BBB (Better Business Bureau) records before choosing a counseling agency to get debt help. You can get help from an organization that has got high ratings from the Better Business Bureau.

You can get your free online Experian Credit Report at the FreeCreditReport web site when you sign up for a free trial of Triple AdvantageSM Credit Monitoring. Simply fill out your information for identification purposes, answer a few questions and your credit report will be available to you on-line, in no time at all, once your identity has been confirmed.

Your Username and Password will enable you to view your credit report on some of these services for 30 days over the Internet in the most secure environment that they can provide. You will also have access to an array of benefits located in services like – My Credit Center.

Getting your free Credit Report and Credit Score is the first step in knowing your credit. Monitoring your credit report allows you to stay on top of your credit on a daily basis.

You should do this to take the guesswork out of what/\’s happening with your credit.

Your credit is one of your most important assets. Having good credit means you should have more options to borrow money at the lowest cost and from the best lenders. It also means that others who look at your credit such as landlords, insurance companies, or even prospective employers re less likely to turn you away or penalize you because you have poor credit.

Your personal credit report contains such information as your name, current and previous addresses, phone number, Social Security number, date of birth, and current and previous employers. Your spouse’s name may appear on your version of the credit report, but it will not appear on the version that is provided to others. This information comes from your credit applications, so its accuracy depends on your filling out the forms clearly, completely and consistently each time you apply for credit.

Creditreport.imess.net is worth a try. Many people say they have used it to monitor their credit and some have said that they also cleaned off some bad items from their credit report. You can apply for a free initial plan and get your scores and reports for free.

In all your thoughts about credit reporting do keep in mind there are 3 reporting agencies. If you keep track of when you pull each of the three then you can spread it out to one every 4 months. That would be ideal if you could do that.

Freecreditreport.com, Experian, Transunion, Equifax are all in it to make some money from providing these reports. So many people are asking where they can get a genuine free credit report without having to give up my credit card information and sign up for some monthly membership or a dumb “identity theft monitoring alert” service?

Unfortunately, in order to get your credit report a lot of the websites ask for your credit card information. They do that so when you sign up for a free trial if you don’t cancel within that time they can charge your account. Myfico.com is one of the best ones out there. I understand that users have reported that they signed up for there free 30 day trial and also cancelled it before the 30 days was up and indeed didn’t get charged anything.

What is a free credit report?

The answer lies in the last three words of your question and is self-explanatory. A free credit report is when a credit bureau provides an individual a copy of their credit report without a charge.

It’s exactly what it says it is. A free credit report.. in other words, you don’t have to pay for it.

Am I entitled for a free credit report?

I am not sure whether this is correct, but I have been told that residents of Colorado, Massachusetts, Maryland, New Jersey, and Vermont are entitled under state law to one free report per year from a credit reporting agency. If you are a resident of Georgia, you are even entitled to more reports at two each year.

This is very useful especially if you have been denied credit on the basis of information in a credit report.

Who is eligible?

I am not a legal expert but I did find a statement on the web that said that based on the Fair Credit Reporting Act, sections 612 (b), (c), and (d), you are entitled to one free credit report per year directly from a credit reporting agency only if you certify that you are unemployed and seeking employment in the next 60 days, you are receiving public assistance, or you believe there are inaccuracies in your report due to fraud or have been denied credit because of information on your credit report. To get your free credit report, go directly to a credit reporting bureau and have proof of the criteria that entitles you to receive your free credit report.

Information here should not be construed as advice and it is offered without legal responsibility or liability. It must be emphasised that you should consult a professionally qualified individual or company (such as an accountant, financial adviser or solicitor for example) should you need advice on your financial situation, as they will be able to tailor their advice to your situation accordingly.

While many people believe that getting their bad credit repaired can only be done through a professional agency, this is simply not true. By going to a credit agency, you might find that it takes a great deal more time and money than if you just worked on it yourself. Before you get in touch with a professional credit repair service, refer to the steps listed below, and you might find that repairing your own credit is not that difficult at all.

When you repair your own credit, you must understand that it is a lengthy process that requires patience. The first thing you need to do is contact credit reporting agencies in writing, and request a copy of your credit report. Federal Law states that everyone gets a free credit report annually. You can locate the three main credit-reporting agencies that you will need to get in touch with by performing an Internet search using the terms “Credit Reporting Agencies”. You might also consult your local phone directory.

Contact the agency in writing, and include the following information in your request:

1. Request a free copy of your credit report.

2. A copy of your state identification (such as your driver’s license)

3. Copy of proof of your current address (such as a utilities bill showing your home address)

4. Provide your previous addresses for the past 5 years.

5. A copy of your social security card.

6. Make sure you close the request with your signature.

Your credit report should take approximately 4-6 weeks to be generated and sent to you. If you receive a letter denying you credit, make a copy and enclose it with your written request for a copy of your credit report. If you have already received your free annual credit report permitted the free yearly report, you can use a denial letter of credit within 60 days of its receipt.

When you receive your reports from the agencies you contacted, look over each report for accuracy and discrepancies. Create a log in order to track the differences. If you find invalid accounts or errors in your reports, do not hesitate to file disputes. If you need to file a dispute, most agencies provide the forms to do so via their website. Each credit report should provide contact and account information for each creditor. Keep a log of all your debt information and creditors. Most debts older than 7 years old probably won’t appear on the report, and if so, leave them alone. Most creditors after 7 years will write off the debt, though some might continue to pursue you. Whatever the case, don’t open the Pandora’s box if the account isn’t listed on your credit report.

The next step is to contact each creditor to make payment arrangements. Most of them will be willing to work with you, while some might not be so agreeable. If a creditor is being difficult, feel free to ask for his or her supervisor or speak with someone else. Expect some creditors to be rude and unwilling to work with you. Try no to feel discouraged, be persistent, and ask to speak with someone else. Offer a settlement amount. Keep a written log of the conversation, including the person’s contact information each time you speak with a creditor.

It can take as many as 6 months to feel like you are making headway on your credit repair, but rest assured that your credit will get better within a year or two.

It is very important that while you are paying off your debts that you pay by check or money order and retain all receipts. Make sure that you request a receipt for the payment from the agency.

Continue to obtain copies of your credit reports annually from each agency. Do not create new debts while paying off your current ones. If you receive credit offers, throw them away. Remain focused on your goal to get out of debt and document your payments, contact with the creditors, their names, extension, time and date you spoke with them and list any pertinent detail regarding your conversations.

Do you know what your credit report score is? You’ve seen commercials asking this question, and for some people, the television might get muted or the channel could change. It’s a fact of life, if you’ve got credit, then you’ve got a credit score. It might be high or it might be in the middle, it might be low and in need of attention or repair. The good thing about your credit report score is that it can be monitored and adjusted, it’s up to you and your financial payment history.

A credit report score is based on your credit history. If you open a department store credit card or even a major credit card such as Visa, MasterCard, or Discover and use them to obtain purchases, then your payment history determines your credit history. If you don’t pay the minimum payment or default on the credit card it will affect your ability to obtain other credit. This score is also known as the FICO, Fair Isaac Corporation. Some lenders require a higher credit report score than others so not being able to obtain credit at one retailer might not be necessarily true at another.

If you spend any amount of time on the internet then you’ve probably seen the flashing banners that ask you in a non-threatening way via colors and animation what your credit report score might be. You can tell that it’s an important topic because when you try to obtain credit and your score is below what a lender accepts, you won’t be able to get credit. A good credit score is in the high 700’s, an average score sets in the middle 600’s and a bad credit report score is 500 or lower.

If you have a lower credit score and need or want to raise it you can do a few things. It will take time but these suggestions will help you. First you need to find out what your credit score is, and by being denied credit you’ll know that a problem exists. Still, it’s important to know what your credit report score is. You can contact one or all three of the major credit companies, Experian, TransUnion and Equifax. Review your credit history and see where a red flag has been placed. If you are able to eliminate a problem, then do so. To raise your credit score, you might need to obtain a secured credit card. You will generally have to pay a fee to have this credit card and you must never miss a payment. It will help build back your credit standing.

Remember, your credit score reflects many things, but one of the most important things is how you pay back your financial obligations. If you always pay on time and pay at least the minimum amount due, you will generally see your credit score rise. But again, this is a history, so one or two months of on-time payments are probably not going to change it much.

If you are applying for a position with a potential employer, you are often asked to submit to a background check. This allows the company you’re seeking employment with to check your arrest record, your previous employers and now, your credit history. If you don’t meet their criteria, you might be denied employment. A lot of people don’t check their credit report history until there’s a problem. You owe it to yourself to obtain your credit report, it’s free and you can obtain a copy from each credit reporting agency once a year. They may report different information on each report. I suggest obtaining your credit report once every three months and rotating which agency you use. It could mean the difference between obtaining credit and what interest rate you’ll pay on a loan.

What is my credit score is an important question to get answered for financial reasons. To know What is my credit score you will have to first understand What is a credit score. The credit score which is also known as FICO score is a concept created by Fair Isaac Corporation. Fico score is proprietary of Fair Isaac Corporation and hence the formula used to calculate the Fico score is under the wraps.

Credit score is a three digit number which defines an individual’s credit worthiness. Higher the credit score better is an individual’s credit worthiness and hence lower is the risk of lending to the individual.

From Bankers to employers many use credit score as a base to determine the financial risk. Hence it is very important to know how much is the credit score and try to improve the credit score as much as possible, though not everyone lends based on credit score.

Good credit score ranges anywhere from 825 to 650. Low credit score is from 575 to 650. Anything below 575 is considered as Bad credit score. For someone with a good credit score the rate of interest will be lesser as the risk associated is lesser compared with someone with a bad credit score.

Credit scores are determined based on the following factors.

1. Payment history

Payment history says about your past financial obligations and how quickly you met them. Problems such as bankruptcy will reduce your credit score. If you paid your credits promptly you will get a higher credit score.

2. Current debt

How much you owe contributes to your credit score. This factor considers the present financial position. If you are in debt with a large number of sources then obviously it is going to pull down your credit score significantly.

3. Duration of Credit History

If you are having a good credit history over a long period of time, then you will land with a good credit score. It is similar to someone with longer work experience is preferred over someone with lesser work experience. Having a good credit history over longer time period is important.

4. Number of Credit

If a person has more number of credit cards, then it gives a negative impression about the person’s finance and so it will lower the person’s credit score. Someone with lesser credit sources will be given a higher credit score.

Building a good credit score and maintaining it is an ongoing process. The best way to improve your credit scores is to learn how to manage your debt wisely. If you’re thinking of buying a home, car, or big ticket item in the near future, you must keep on top of your credit and do everything in your power to increase your credit score.

Please note that the ratings in the world, nothing happens overnight. Even with the fastest ways to increase your credit score, it can take at least 30 days before positive actions are reflected in the credit file. Therefore, what can you do to improve your credit score quickly?

1st Get your credit report and credit score.

You have the right to obtain a free copy of credit report from each major investigative bodies, consumers (credit bureaus EI): Equifax, Experian and Trans Union.

Get all three reports because they may vary slightly. A credit score is calculated on the basis of information contained regarding credit amount, credit usage, and credit age. Different companies have different formulas for calculating the results, but the most commonly used credit score is a FICO rating.

This is your first step to improve your credit score… Get your credit reports.

The next step is ..

Review for incorrect information.

The first time you look at your credit report, you will be surprised to see both what is included and excluded. Unfortunately, not all information is correct. Studies have shown that at least 25% of credit reports have errors.

Sometimes you will share information with someone that has a similar name. A worse case scenario is that you’ve been a victim of identity theft. the next thing ..

3rd Cause of inaccuracies in your credit report.

If you think a Credit Bureau has mistaken you for someone else, make sure that your name is spelled correctly. Do you have any alias’? Also, make sure that the social security number of the credit report is correct. Is you current and past addresses correct?

If you find errors in these regards, you must contact the credit bureaus to correct this info.

4th Credit Report Is In Error.

You may flat out find that information is incorrect as it relates to your credit accounts. For instance, are you showing duplicate accounts, late payments actually paid on time, closed accounts that are open, open credit that has actually been completely paid, and so on. When these errors occur, agencies are required to investigate and resolve. But you must notify them first.

First, you must send a dispute letter to identify the errors and sent that to the bureau which shows the incorrect information. Free sample dispute letters are available on this website. Send any supporting documents to the credit bureau as well. For example, copies of credit card statements and checks that have been cashed.

The credit bureau in question must remove the incorrect information within 30 days. If the credit bureau can not verify the negative information from the creditor in question, they should remove that item from your credit report. If the report is correct, you have the right to obtain that information.

As a heads up, do not forget to make copies of letters to credit bureaus.

5th Start paying your bills on time, and pay regularly on all of your debt.

If at all possible, setup automatic payments online. This is one way to ensure that your bills will be paid on time. One other tip. Do not close accounts that you have paid off. In this day and age, your FICO score will actually decrease if you close an account. Reason being is that you are scored according to how much available credit that you have versus how much credit you are using at any particular time. If you are using $3000 and have access to $10,000 in available credit, you are using 30% of your available credit balance. If you pay off a card that you owe $500 dollars on, you now owe $2500. However, if you had an available balance on that card of $3000 and you close that account, you now owe a total of $2500 but only have an available balance of $7500, thus you’re credit use is actually higher at 33% and your FICO will go down. Make sense?

Many companies and programs are offering fast credit report tips, however they often come with a hefty price tag. There are many things the average consumer can do to make improvements without the help of a professional. If you have the time and a some organizational skills, and a do-it-yourself attitude, you can increase your credit score rather quickly. In some cases the results can be a couple days, but within 30 days significant improvements can be made.

The first step is to access a copy of your credit report and review it for errors. Seventy-five percent of credit reports include inaccurate information. One in four reports include errors that actually hurt you in a negative way, so pay particular attention to loans that you never took out, credit cards that should have been closed years ago, and late payments on accounts that you’ve always been on time for. If there is something as serious as a bankruptcy filing that does not belong to you, that is something that would take immediate priority, as you might be a victim of identity theft.

After you have reviewed your credit report there are two directions to go to implement fast credit repair strategies. The first is to figure out what is causing your credit score to be where it is and work on ways to change that. Once you determine the problem areas, then you can use fast credit repair tips to fix those areas. For example:
– Is your available credit to debt ratio high?
– Are there several indications of late payments?
– Is there a history of using credit?
– Have you been active with the accounts that are open?

The second thing to do is to dispute credit report errors that do exist on your credit report. By law, you are entitled to an accurate credit report, and the agency that supplies this documentation is required to respond to any concerns you bring up to them.

Because the credit agencies must be able to find conclusive evidence in order to support any negative information, it is entirely possible to have things you actually did removed from your report. For example, if there is a history of late payments on a credit card from 5 years ago, there’s a good chance that the credit card company may not have any proof of those late payments on file. Therefore, by law, the credit reporting agency must remove the negative information from your report. As a result your credit score will instantly improve.

Welcome To DIY Credit Repair

Hello, I am agent 3 and I am here to help you with DIY credit repair. I call myself ’3′ as a measure of emphasis as well as to preserve my anonymity. My goal is to help educate you about your debt, credit and bill collectors. I speak for those who are in search of freedom from slavery. Slavery to the credit system. The credit system was designed to enslave you. The deeper in debt you are the more profit creditors make. Predatory lenders want you to be late on your loan or credit card payments. They want you to pay high interest and late fees. Matters are made worse when bill collectors become involved. Many collection agencies employ illegal tactics, threatening to sue you, garnish your wages, or even have you put in jail.

If you are, or have been in a situation in which you feel enslaved to the credit system, or harassed by a bill collector, I encourage you to educate yourself. Knowledge is free! With knowledge comes freedom. You can get rid of bill collectors or repair your credit on your own. You do NOT need to pay anyone! If you can dedicate a few hours a week to research, reading and writing letters you can take control. The only expense is postage! Start your education at: www.creditboards.com, and www.creditinfocenter.com. Take back your credit freedom with DIY credit repair!

You need money and you need it now. So you head on over to your corner payday loan store and ask for a couple hundred dollars. You show them a couple pay stubs, sign some documents, and walk out with your $200. Did you look at the interest rate? When you do have to pay the loan back? Typically you will be paying 300% to 1000% for your loan on an annualized basis because you will be paying high interest and have to pay back that payday loan within one to two weeks. And if you don’t pay it back within the allotted contract time, guess what… additional fees.

Instead, you can get a loan as fast as an hour and have 100 days to pay it back.

When you have inferior credit and are trying to get a bad credit mortgage refinancing loan, there are some important aspects that can make the process hassle free. Today’s consumer is now empowered to get the best type of loan for their financial situation because of online Internet access and the many websites that cater to the needs of people with bad credit.

What Is Bad Credit Mortgage Refinancing?

A bad credit mortgage refinancing loan is a loan based on the equity in your home. This loan can help you in lowering your overall interest payments and monthly payments, and also in consolidating all your debts. A bad credit mortgage loan is very helpful in repairing your credit.

By taking out a bad credit mortgage refinancing loan, you can pay other debts. This includes car payments and credit card payments. Heck, if you can get a decent interest rate, anything beats the 20+ that most credit card companies charge. The most popular options for bad credit mortgage refinance loans are cash out mortgage refinance, and a home equity loan. Both of these options would allow you to rely on the equity that you have paid on your home, and use its value to come out of all your debt troubles.

With the help of a bad credit mortgage loan, you can move all your credit card payments with a high rate of interest into one lower interest payment. This would not only simplify the payment of your bills and lower your monthly payments, but it would also improve your poor credit situation. Eventually, you would notice an increase in your credit score. Yes, don’t get rid of those credit cards because simply having them on your credit report… even if there is no balance will keep your credit score up. This is because the available balance that you have on these cards is a plus for your credit score.

In order to convince the lenders to provide you with a bad credit mortgage refinancing loan, you need to have a credit score of 620+. Higher cash reserves would also convince the lender that you would be able to cope up with any payments in case of an emergency.

You can get these types of loans through either a bank or mortgage broker. However, you must thoroughly check the rates in the loan market before choosing any one lender so as to get the loan on favorable terms.

How Can I Find The Perfect Bad Credit Refinancing Mortgage Company?

The most important factor to be considered is the interest rate. Thus you need to choose the mortgage company that provides the most favorable rate of interest. You must also check that there are no hidden fees included in these loans that you are looking at. What it comes down to is that if you are going to refinance your home, you need to read all the documents that accompany the loan.

Another thing to check is the quality of the service provided by these companies. You should not choose a company that offers extremely low rates of interest, but provides terrible service. Instead, you should choose a bad credit mortgage refinance company that offers a slightly higher rate of interest, but also cares for your needs and formulates its policies according to your interests.

With simple online access you can do a search on “bad credit mortgage” and have several sites that can help with your financial situation. A little research and time spent educating yourself can help you get your financial situation back in order.

You really need to understand how credit scores are calculated if you want to improve your credit score,

The important thing to know is that there are several different types of credit scores. The Fair Isaac Corp. score (or FICO score), is the most widely accepted credit score. With over 90% of the largest U.S. banks using the FICO score to determine your creditworthiness, it is the closest thing to a standard for measuring a person’s ability to manage debt.

As a result, it is important to do everything you can to protect your FICO score, as a lower score can cost you thousands of dollars in interest payments on a loan.

How are Credit Scores Calculated?

While FICO does not disclose how they actually compute the credit score, it really is not much of a secret. The FICO score itself is calculated by using a combination of data that appears on your credit report. This includes approximately:

    * 35 percent – An individual’s history of making credit payments on time

    * 30 percent – The total debt to available credit ratio

    * 15 percent – The length of time credit lines have been open

    * 10 percent – The frequency with which someone applies for new credit

    * 10 percent – Other factors such as the types of credit lines

In 2008, FICO made some modifications to the way they measure an individual’s credit score. The new system not only shows the how likely they are able to pay back debts, but it gives some insight as to how well they also manage debt in general.

One of the biggest improvements people will see is that in the past, one missed credit card payment could severely damage your credit score if it were to be reported by the lender. The 2008 FICO score is more lenient, in that it will be mostly forgiving to one mistake on an otherwise flawless credit report.

Another differing is that 2008 FICO credit score calculates the ability to manage multiple types of debt. For instance, FICO will reward people who have both revolving debt (credit card) and installment loans (auto and home loans). A person who can effectively manage many types of loans is considered more credit worthy.

Now that you know some of the ways credit scores are calculated, you can take advantage of some of the tricks to quickly increase your credit score.

Raising the credit report scores entirely depends on your very own condition and situations. There are quite a few different techniques for raising it easily and quickly. Underneath, I am going to discuss with you some of the situations so that you get approved for a new credit easily.

Consider that your credit score is 540, the best way for you to raise your credit report score is going to be much different as compared to a person whose score is 640. A score of 540 generally means that there are some negative items on the credit report which need the attention. An expert can easily understand the report with a bird eye just with a look on the score and thus help you in raising your credit report scores.

Challenging the account with the credit bureaus is the best possible way to raise issues which you need to get fixed. It may vary from past dues to recent collection accounts or a lot more serious thing like judgment etc. The more serious an issue is, harder it becomes to fix it and raise your credit report overall scores.

The approach you pick to raise your credit scores should also consist of further improving your account and credit history. The best way for this is to restrain your self from over use of your credit card and paying back all debts on time. Try to bring more and more of balances down and if possible even go to clear them completely. You should always keep in mind that the opened balance is one main factor in calculating your overall balance scores. Paying them more and more will gradually raise your over all credit report scores.

Were going to address the question “Will DIY credit repair really improve my credit score?” The answer might surprise you. Credit being such a crucial part of your finances, it’s sometimes difficult to think that you, yourself can make changes to it. Most would think once something negative is there it will stay for seven years. That’s not always the case.

You can make significant changes to your credit score with a DIY manual on how to dispute and repair your credit score. Depending on the amount of repair needed DIY can be an economical option to your credit repair needs. Most credit repair services will do exactly what you will be doing with what you learn from DIY credit repair.

You will have challenges though. It’s not something you download or receive in the mail and the credit repair is on its way. You will have to dedicate some time to it. What you’ll get in return is a better understanding of credit and a better credit score. You will learn much more than you ever thought there was to credit. So it’s an investment in the long run.

So to answer the question “yes” you will see improvement on your credit with DIY credit repair programs. You can remove collection accounts, erroneous reporting’s, late payments and misreporting accounts. Depending on the accounts, you can completely remove accounts that are lowering your score. Some claim to give you the tools and understanding to remove larger derogatory problems, judgments’, liens and foreclosures.

You will learn that you can also improve your accounts in good standing. Accounts in good standings can be improved depending on how they are reported. Credit issuing companies don’t always report accounts in a manner that best benefits you. They also omit key information that can boost your credit score, just by being there. An example of this is to report your running balance but failing to report your total credit limit. You’ll learn that there isn’t just one way for them to report your account. You will be armed with the information to make sure they report your account as it best benefits you. It’s your credit take control of it.

Improve Yourself With Fast Credit Repair and Rebuild Your Credit

Fast credit repair is manageable but the unimaginable is not going to take place unless you choose to fix it. This is not to point out that if your credit is truly bad and it cannot be fixed because in that respect are plenty of services available you can employ to help one self.

It will just take longer and bankruptcy can always be an option if you are in over your head but, keep in mind if you have a home your equity can be applied to receive that loan and this is one of many ideas that can be used to rebuild your credit. If you are searching right now or not able to take action now but want to acquire an advantage by discovering what sort of services that each of these credit companies offer up then by far this is believably your best bet. If you have a couple of credit accounts on your credit file that have been paid on time and so continue to do that, at this point you need to focus on repairing the poor points that demand to be disputed directly. This is particularly true if you are planning on attaining a major purchase within the next year or so and want your credit history to beam for the potential companies who will look at giving you that loan. The sooner you get your scores up, the greater the opportunity of being approved for the credit you require.

If you require help to implement fast credit repair, in that respect are respective methods to repair bad credit. First of all, you can obtain help from a credit repair service. These companies are groomed to know precisely what it will take to raise your score to good levels. One way of managing this is by negotiating a settlement that is lower than the total you really owe and those respective calls made and credit repair letters sent on your behalf will in turn reflect on your credit report and your raised credit score will improve.

Another means to reach fast credit repair for individuals who do not have adequate credit or marginal established credit history may want to see into qualifying for a conventional credit card or loan. A secured card or loan can be applied for at your bank using money that you have in your account and if those monetary funds that you try to spend very little of are lower than anticipated and your debt to income ratio requires some help. Numerous companies have services that will help guide you on the right way to help you fix this dilemma.

Keep in mind that banks use credit reports from the major credit bureaus such as Experian, Equifax, and TransUnion to understand what you the consumer qualifies for. These bureaus will raise your credit score as these payments are produced on time based on the feedback presented by the various companies you established a credit line with. When you are generating more positive marks and so you will wind up with more good credit than bad evidently and in turn your credit score will raise. It is up to you whether you want to try a fast credit repair approach on your own or by using a credit repair company only it really depends on your circumstances. There are different good consumer groups that appear to execute miracles when it adds up to fast credit repair.

One general mistake that numerous people have suffered from is due to bad check writing only it can be fixed by paying back the check amount plus the bank fee for a returned check and sending a letter to that particular company that you have established credit with noting what took place. Another reason for sustaining bad credit are the many unintentional marks that may be reported credit delinquencies on your credit file that do not belong to you although you can handle this yourself or search out the advice of a counselor. And So this is going to require a dispute process in which you tell the credit bureau that you did not possess this debt at this point both you and the credit bureau will launch an investigation into the disputed remarks.

Another significant factor that is more common these days is identity theft. This is why it is really significant to keep up-to-date with your credit history by knowing what your credit score is currently because these terrible activities can ruin your credit to a point that you will spend an eternity trying to rectify. The fast credit repair can be started by numerous reputable companies that may be efficient to assist you with this if the debt is not yours. The debts on your credit report that in reality are not a issue of identity theft but are not yours can be taken care of as well. These are simply a couple of the choices accessible to serve you on the road to fast credit repair therefore if you suffer from a lack of credit or charged with bad credit on that point are numerous options accessible to help either rebuild your credit or generate credit.

Free report at: www.CSBCards.com – (*24hr Recorded Message (775) 473-9014*) CREDIT REPAIR: info from the credit secrets bible Rebuild Credit: Insider Credit Repair Techniques to Improve Credit Score Fast! What’s the fastest way to raise your credit score? To quote the classic magazine salesman from the movie Office Space “That all depends”… While the removal of negative items from your credit report will almost always result in an increase in your credit score, there is a method that works better. Here’s why. Adding positive accounts is actually more effective at improving your credit score (in the short term) than removing negative one. Unfortunately, few consumers or credit repair companies know this. One of the biggest problems with trying to get approved for new credit is that you need to “have” credit in order to be approved. This causes a sort of catch 22. How does one “get” credit if no one will give them credit because they don’t have any credit to begin with? A vicious cycle indeed, but a real one. However, if you have someone you can use a cosigner this is NOT a problem. Simply have them cosign on the new credit application for you. If you don’t have a cosigner, read on. Contrary to popular belief (or what myfico and credit repair companies would like you to believe), the largest factor in building a solid foundation for your credit score comes down to two credit scoring factors: 1.) The “High Credit Limit” and 2.) Your “Debt to Credit” Ratio Your high credit …

Many people are of the assumption that if you have a credit score of 620 or below, that there simply are no credit cards for bad credit. A credit score of 620 is just taken as an example. However, what many people find is that once they start applying to the known big banks and their credit score hovers around or below that point, the credit card application is almost always denied.

I’m here to tell you that there are credit cards that you can get if you have bad credit. Yes, some of them are secured credit cards. Meaning, if you want a $500 limit, you need to deposit $500 into an account before you are accepted to receive a credit card from that bank. I know, some people would say “why would I ever give a bank money just for the luxury of getting a credit card”? The answer is simple. You actually increase your credit score by then using that credit card in a proper manner.

The other end of the spectrum is not getting a secure credit card but the combination of paying high credit card interest rates with high annual fees. I’ve seen credit cards as high as 36.99% but state usury laws restrict interest rates in certain states. Some banks are even starting to institute processing fees before even checking out your credit score.

Bad credit credit cards are available. However if you have time and do not need one of these cards, I highly recommend the following system.

I was asked if I could recommend an all in one credit repair system for individuals who want to get their credit repaired as quickly as possible and also have access to forms and letters to help fix your credit. This company provides videos and gives you access to lenders who loan on autos, credit cards, and home loans for those with not so perfect credit. Even the purchase of this system itself is reported as a positive on your credit report.

Yes, I highly recommend the following Ultimate Credit Repair System:

Do you need credit report monitoring? Sometimes the question may be can I live without it? A personal story… I was going about my daily business, was out of college for about a year and decided that it might be a good time to buy a place rather than rent. I knew that according to my income I could afford a nice little condo which would be perfect for me.

Well, my credit was pulled and I had a couple of items on it which weren’t mine. One was a medical bill that originated from a place that I’d never been to. Another was a loan that I used to have which was sold to another company. Unfortunately both the old loan and the loan showed up on my credit report. Now if I had credit report monitoring, I would have had previous access to my credit report and would not be scrambling to try and have these items removed before buying this condo I had my eye on.

http://www.cpaclicks.com/secure.asp?e=bsqldlfeskgd&d=0&l=0&o=&p=0&subID1=&subID2=&subID3=&subID4=&subID5= Get Your Free Credit Report Here!

Another instance: I was notified by a previous employer that their human resources database was tapped into which meant that social security numbers were in the hands of a thief. Both current and previous employees were effected. The company was upfront about what had happened and offered one year of free credit report monitoring. Wouldn’t you know it, someone opened up a credit card under my name and social security number and was using it while affecting my credit.

So how do you stop these things from happening? Truth be known, without credit report monitoring, I don’t know of a way that you can. However, I signed up with a credit report monitoring service and this is what happened. I was notified that someone was trying to purchase a car by using my social security number. Yes, the credit report monitoring service contacted me because there was an alert attached to my social security number. Whenever someone attempted to open or change an account that had anything to do with my SS#, I was notified. In this case, the folks actually ended up being arrested. Woohoo. Score one for credit report monitoring!

There are options for people looking for mortgages when they have bad credit.
If you are looking to purchase a home or refinance the one you are currently living in, but believe this may not be a possibility for you because you have bad credit, think again.

Just because you have bad credit does not mean you will not be able to receive a mortgage. In fact there are many lenders out there across the United States that are known as wholesale lenders that specialize in lending money to people with bad credit. Gheez, FHA is currently lending to those with 620+ credit scores. Bad credit mortgages are available if you look for them.

The names of these wholesale lenders may not ring familiar to you because they are not the typical lending institutions you see on the street corners of your town, otherwise know as banks.

The first thing you will need to do is locate a few of these wholesale lenders and shop around for a deal you believe to be fair. If you do not have success finding these lenders on your own, you may want to consider using a broker and have them shop around for you.

A broker is not a lender. What they do is assess your situation, than shop around for a lender that deals with bad credit mortgages.

Brokers have access to hundreds of lenders across the country and they can usually find one that has a program that may fit your needs.

Using a broker may not be such a bad idea, they are usually very experienced in their field and will not only find a bad credit mortgage lender for you, they will also council and educate you along the way. Just beware that a broker may receive an incentive or spread (ie a hike of a quarter point in the interest rate) for working out a deal with a company to offer a loan to you.

Keep in mind, just because your credit may be less than perfect, does not mean that you are at the mercy of the mortgage companies, you are not. Do not listen to the news because there are mortgages for bad credit.

Don’t limit yourself to contacting only one broker, say no more than four. Allow for each to assess your situation, than base your consideration of which one you will use on the rate and program that they offer you. My recommendation would be to first check out FHA and see if you can qualify for a loan through them. Good luck.

Ok…. So a lot of folks in this economic climate need help when it comes to credit. Granted, some of it is our own doing and some of it is flat out due to the banks and credit card companies. I can speak from the heart and tell you that at one point I was hovering around a 760 credit score and months later I’m in the high 500′s.

What happened in my situation? Well, as a real estate investor, at one point I had access to large lines of credit and high limits on credit cards both on a business and personal level. I leveraged those available balances into paying for materials to rehab properties that I was working on. All was going well. I would purchase one property, rehab it, sell it, and move on to the next property. Only one day I got a letter that said that the amount of debt that I had relative to the available balance was too high. So this particular credit card cut my available balance in half. This in turn led to the next credit card company seeing that my overall balance was lower, so they cut my available credit. This turned into a vicious cycle.

The letters started coming in saying that information was pulled from the credit bureaus stating that I was delinquent on payments and something about balances being too high as compared to available credit. I pulled my credit report from

annualcreditreport.com

and found inaccurate information. I requested my credit score and I was hovering between 680 and 580 between the 3 credit bureaus. Something was definitely wrong.

Are you in the same situation? Is it time to fix your credit score? Hang on and I’ll tell you what I did…

Ok… now that you’ve highlighted the negative information on your credit report, its time to get down to the facts. Do you see any information that is at all questionable? I’m talking about incorrect balances, payments that have been incorrectly marked as late, any accounts that are not yours, chargeoffs or collection accounts which are not correct, an account that you have been paying on which is market too new to report, etc.. Remember, it is your right to dispute ANY information in your credit report that is not correct.
Having said that, I need to get on my high horse here and tell you that I’ve been a victim of identity theft multiple times and each time it has affected my credit reports and credit score. Do yourself a favor and stop identity theft today!

It is time for do it yourself credit repair.

Do it yourself credit repair involves writing a dispute letter. I’ll give you an example of a dispute letter below along with the information that you will need to send the credit bureau that is reporting the information incorrectly.

Sample Do It Yourself Credit Repair Letter

Date

Your Name

Your Social Security Number

Your Address,
City, State, Zip Code

Complaint Department
Name of Company
Address
City, State, Zip Code

To Whom it May Concern:

I am writing to dispute the following information in my file. The item(s) that are in dispute is (are) circled on my credit report.

This item (identify item(s) disputed by name and account number) is (inaccurate or incomplete) because (describe the reason why). I am requesting that the item be deleted (or request another specific change) to correct the information on my account.

(for example Bank of America VISA Acct: xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxx-xxx: This account is listed as being 30 days late. I have never been late on this account.)

Enclosed is a copy of my credit report (if you have any backup information supporting your dispute also include and describe the backup information). Credit reporting laws ensure that bureaus report only accurate credit information. Please remove this inaccurate information as soon as possible.

Sincerely,
Your name

Well there you have it. The above do it yourself credit repair letter is very basic but gives you a general idea of how to repair your own credit. What happens next is that the reporting agency contacts the credit in question and they have 30 days to respond regarding the dispute that you have presented. If the creditor does not respond, the dispute should be removed or corrected on your credit report. If the creditor confirms the information, you may just have to keep on top of it and write another do it yourself credit repair letter a couple of months down the road.

What you do affects your credit score or FICO. Your ultimate goal should be to improve your credit scores. First of all, there is no perfect credit score. The average FICO consumer credit score today is right around 678. Credit scores are not affected by race, creed, education or religion. Credit scores are individual, meaning married couples do not share a score. But what we must remember is that you can improve your credit scores.. in all 3 bureaus.

What affects your credit score negatively? Ughhhh Bad Credit.

Foreclosures

Bankruptcy

Tax Liens

Late Payments

Percent of Credit Use to Available Credit

Too Many Requests for Credit

Having No Credit

So, on a daily basis, what do you need to do to stabilize or improve your credit score? Woohoo Positive Credit.

Make Payments on Time

Keep Your Balance on Each Card at or Below 30% of Available Credit

Make Use of Credit. Do Not Have A Zero Balance

Keep Those Credit Cards (Credit Age)

It all sounds so simple but in life, we realize that payments can’t always be made on time. There is job loss, you might move and the bills might not catch up to you, and credit issuers may lower your credit limit and push you past the use of 30% of your credit on any one card. Look, at least 1/3rd of all credit reports have an error in them. Again, forget about the elusive perfect credit score. You should be asking… how do I increase my credit score? What’s a good credit score? Our goal is to get our FICO into the 720+ area. We might as well look at our credit reports and credit scores and right any wrongs in those credit reports.

What is considered a good credit score? Along with your credit report, you can also request your credit score (also called FICO). There will be a charge to get your credit scores from each credit reporting agency but along with your credit report, this will be the tell tale sign as to your buying power. If you are given the choice of buying an all in one report which includes your credit report from all 3 agencies along with your credit scores, don’t choose that option. This type of report is usually more of a summarized report and won’t include all the information that you need to see on your credit report.

The way I see a credit score is that it is a number which not only predicts your potential buying power but also your risk. Some see it as your ability to make credit payments on time. This credit score is your number at a particular point in time and it can change at any moment.

What is considered a good credit score? So why does your credit score matter? Are you looking to purchase a car in the near future? Maybe just getting auto insurance to go along with that new car you are thinking about. Perhaps moving into an apartment or house shopping? What about that credit card application that just showed up in the mail at 1.9% for the first six months? Hey, that department store said that I could get 10% off my purchase today if I apply for their store credit card. I’m looking for a job and I wonder what my future employer thinks of me?

All of the above could be dependant on your credit score or what some call FICO (Fair Isaac Corporation). FICO scores range from 300-850, the higher the score the better or what is also considered to be a lower risk. FICO comes up with their score through a mathematical equation. Either the credit report itself and/or the FICO score is passed on to the lender when a request for credit is made on your behalf.

How do you rank?

FICO Credit Score

Percent of People
With That Score

300 – 499

2%

500 – 549

5%

550 – 599

8%

600 – 649

12%

650 – 699

15%

700 – 749

18%

750 – 799

27%

800 – 850

13%

If you are considering a mortgage, although FHA says that you only need a 620+ credit score, 650 or above is considered adequate. Mortgage brokers and banks really like to see that FICO at 720 and above.

Generally, a FICO score below 700 entails some sort of risk. Your goal should be to get your score at 720 or above and keep it at that level.

First of all, credit report analysis is not the easiest thing to do. The first thing that I would do is to make copies of each of your credit reports. If you have not already done so, you can get your free annual credit report by going to…
If you’ve used a service where you can print them off of the internet, make sure that you have at least 2 copies. Put one copy of your credit report away and don’t touch it. Grab your yellow highlighter and one credit report at a time. Although each credit report has its own rating system, they are similar enough that we can figure out the positive listings from the negative listings from each of the credit reporting agencies, Equifax, TransUnion, and Experian.

Anything which is listed as Paid As Agreed, we will leave alone. Paid As Agreed is a positive listing. Look for items which say charge offs, foreclosure, repossessions, collections and paid collections, settled accounts, bankruptcy and included in bankruptcy, as well as 30, 60, 90, or 120 day late payments. Also look for an item that says Too New To Rate. It shows up on my report as a negative listing (ouch). With the exception of Paid As Agreed, make sure you highlight each of the items mentioned above, one credit report at a time. A negative listing can be in the form of something on your credit report that does not belong to you. Check for duplicate items which and balances which may not be correct and make sure to highlight those listings.

According to the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA), the information provider (ie the company that gave you your auto loan) as well as the consumer reporting company (ie Equifax) are required to correct incomplete or inaccurate information as it relates to your credit report. Make sure you go through each of the negative listings to determine if they are valid or if they do not belong on your credit report. Credit report analysis is now complete.

The best credit repair information will do you no good if you don’t act on it!

In order to fix your credit or credit score, you must first understand what your credit report looks like. According to the Fair Credit Reporting Act, you can get a copy of your annual credit report from each of the three major credit reporting agencies (Equifax, Experian, and TransUnion). So what did I do? I got my free annual credit report by going to annualcreditreport.com. Otherwise you can give them a call at 877-322-8228.

Once you have all three of your credit reports, sit down and review them for accuracy. Each of these credit reports will have their own individualized information. Meaning, you may find that a certain creditor shows up on one of your credit reports and not on another. You may also find that if you had moved quite a bit, again this information may be on one credit report but not another. Based upon personal experience, I can tell you that you might find inaccuracies relating to duplicate credit items and medical or utility bills that may not belong to you. We will take care of that at a later point. For now, realize that according to law you have a right to the free annual credit report from the big 3 and you have a right to dispute any inaccuracies in those credit reports.
